Nationally designated for its magnificent interior, Annandale House serves as a monument to the Victorian style of design known as the Aesthetic Art Movement. Popularized by Oscar Wilde, this movement encouraged the use of colour and decorative detailling in all areas of the home. From extravagant, hand-painted ceilings and elaborate inlaid floors to ornate mantles, hinges and stained glass, Annandale truly combines the best of what the Aesthetes professed. Built in the 1880s by E.D. Tillson, first mayor of Tillsonburg, Annandale National Historic Site is a visual experience you won't soon forget. The museum complex provides visitors the opportunity to tour both restored period rooms and local history galleries. Facility totally accessible. Picinic areas, special programs and tours available. Open year round Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. During July and August also open Saturdays 12 p.m .to 4 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
